Giovanni Pernice’s ‘final blow’ after Amanda Abbington’s shock Strictly exit

Giovanni Pernice appeared to deliver one last blow after Amanda Abbington's sudden and unexpected exit from Strictly Come Dancing.

The professional dancer, 33, was already said to be "annoyed" by how the Sherlock actress, 49, went about deciding to quit the hugely-popular BBC One competition.

And now, it seems he's decided to make a point to ignore Amanda's final departure post on Instagram.

Fellow pros such as Gorka Marquez have shared their well-wishes and support for the celebrity and her decision to stop taking part, as well as tennis champion Annabel Croft and host Claudia Winkleman.

Many other stars have given encouragement and love for Amanda's future endeavours too, including her fiance Jonathan Goodwin, but Giovanni has chosen not to respond.

Despite that, Amanda failed to mention Giovanni, who has been seen looking "downcast" out and about since the decision, directly in her goodbye post.

The Sicilian dancer sent "so much love" to the actress, and posted a snap of the pair of them enjoying their movie night Bridget Jones' Diary performance together, but Amanda chose to talk about the experience as a whole instead.

“It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue," she said on her social media.

"It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants," the star continued. "They are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.”

As Amanda went on to thank “everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring”, she also made a telling move by only sharing an image of a pair of dancing shoes.

Whereas Giovanni's message of support read: "Amanda… I am so sad we can’t continue but I am proud of what we achieved and I am sending you so much love @amanda_abbington74 @bbcstrictly."

While there has been no official word, according to The Daily Star, Giovanni was left frustrated by Amanda's handling on the situation too.

“This has really annoyed him," a source told the publication. "He’s barely heard from her for 10 days. She hasn’t been replying to messages or telling him what’s happening.

"He’s been complaining about it to friends. He’s frustrated," the source went on. "He is worried the drama will be damaging for his career and make him look bad.”

Reports claimed that Amanda and Giovanni were immediately struggling to connect from the very beginning of their partnership.

At the time, Amanda was said to be considering pulling out of the competition during week one as she didn't like Giovanni's "strict and aggressive style and attitude" in the training room.
