Greta Gerwig kicked off her latest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” with some very exciting news: “I am with child.” The “White Noise” actor appeared on the late-night talk show on Dec. 1 and confirmed that she’s expecting “baby No. 2” with her partner, Noah Baumbach, after going to an event where she originally planned to make her announcement.
“I went to an event recently, and I wore something that I thought everybody would be so interested to know that I was going to have another child, and nobody cared,” she joked. “It didn’t get reported on. Which, turns out, nobody’s paying attention to you.”
Fallon shrugged off Gerwig’s joke and said to her, “This is going to be baby Harold’s brother or sister, yeah?” Gerwig welcomed her 3-year-old son in March 2019. When asked what Harold thinks of her growing family — Baumbach also shares a 12-year-old son named Rohmer with ex-wife Jennifer Jason Leigh — Gerwig replied, “It’s hard to know what a 3-year-old makes of things that aren’t existent yet in front of him. He’s beautifully sophisticated in some ways, and then in other ways, he asks, ‘What language do they speak in New Jersey?'”
In addition to her baby news, Gerwig was, of course, asked to dish about her highly anticipated “Barbie” movie, especially those viral paparazzi photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling all dressed up in their costumes. “Everything for us was so — the cast was so committed. Everybody gave everything they had. They really went for it, it’s like full commitment. And then we realized, in that moment, we were like, ‘We look insane!'”
