Halle Bailey opens up about taking on such an iconic role as Ariel in The Little Mermaid!

The 22-year-old actress and singer of course plays the character in the upcoming live action Disney movie, and there’s a lot of pressure living up to a beloved animated character.

However, Halle recently shared that she doesn’t feel much pressure anymore over her leading role.

“I don’t feel any pressure anymore,” she told E! News. “I think that before I started filming, I did feel some nerves naturally because the film is so important to so many people.”

“I just lean on [friends and family] and I know that I just give it my 100 percent,” Halle added. “I did my best, that’s all I can do. I’m just really grateful to see it all play out.”

The actress said that seeing the kids’ reactions to the initial teaser of her singing “Part of Your World” made her cry, and to know little Black and Brown kids will be able to feel like they’re represented “is really special” to her.

“I’m just really grateful to kind of be in this position and I just hope everybody really enjoys the film,” she shared.

Filming on the movie wrapped over a year ago, and there’s still six more months until it comes out!
