Prince HarryandMeghan Markleare “secretly planning a year-long reconciliation with the royal family” – but not just yet.
According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will only get in contact with the royals after their Netflix show airs and Prince Harry’s memoir is released, says theDaily Mail.
The pair were in the UK just last month following the death of the Queen, andThe Sunreports that they had planned to reconcile with her late Majesty next year but were unable to do so.
The latest news about the pair came as experts suggested to the Daily Mail that the Sussexes had been trying to “seize the moment to dictate their own narrative” by their podcasts, interviews, Netflix series and Harry's promised biography.
However, a source told The Sun that the book could derail any reconciliation plans:
“They have always been careful to not criticise the monarch. They have always tried to be respectful to the Queen," the source said.
“But the Queen has now died and Charles and Camilla are the King and Queen. Clearly, this reconciliation attempt would never work if they have been critical of the new monarch, or both.”
Sources close to the couple had branded the previous 12 months their “era of visibility”.
OK! has contacted representatives for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment.
There has been much speculation about the Duke’s book and recently asource said that the whole royal family is “hugely nervous”about it.
Royal expert Tom Bower said that the family are particularly nervous about the “time bomb” nature of the upcoming tell-all book penned by the Duke of Sussex.
Despite rumours that Prince Harry“desperately” wants to make changesto his memoir following the death of his grandmother, Tom says it may be too late to do so.
He says that the book is still a major concern for the royals, who are worried about the content of Harry’s memoir.
Speaking toPage Six, Tom explained: “I think that everybody knows that the Sussexes can’t amend the book in any way. Can they make it nastier? Because otherwise, we wouldn’t get sales.”
The royal commentator added that there are rumours the book could be released around Easter, and that it will have an added chapter about the Queen’s funeral.
He said: “And there’ll just be more material about how they were snubbed and all the rest of the invective against the Royal Family. So I think to that extent, the delay will add to the poison.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to also be having second thoughts about theirhighly-anticipated Netflix documentary.
According to Page Six, the couple want to make “extensive edits” to footage already shot, leaving the entire production in fear of being “shelved indefinitely.”
“Harry and Meghan are having second thoughts on their own story, on their own project,” a Netflix source told the publication.
Although Netflix themselves have never commented on the content of the show, Meghan herself teased a little more about its subject matter in her recent bombshell interview withThe Cutback in August.
She described it as: “The piece of my life I haven’t been able to share, that people haven’t been able to see — our love story.”
