Harry and Meghan to leave UK as soon as they can after weeks away from kids

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, are expected to leave the UK “as soon as they can” in order to return to their two children, Archie and Lilibet, after almost three weeks away from them.

The Sussexes were reported at the weekend to be planning on flying home as soon as they were able, but as of Tuesday morning, they were still in the UK, having stayed at Windsor following The Queen ’s funeral, a source told the Times.

The royal couple were originally only supposed to be in the UK for a few days when they arrived here earlier this month, as they were scheduled to take part in several high profile engagements including the One Young World summit in Manchester and the WellChild Awards in London.

However during their stay, the Queen was sadly taken ill before the heartbreaking news came that she had died at the age of 96, prompting a global outpouring of grief, but also a poignant moment of mourning for Prince Harry and the royal family as they said goodbye to the beloved monarch.

In the days since the death was announced, the young couple took comfort from one another as they grieved both privately and in the public eye at various official events in the run up to Monday’s funeral.

On several occasions Meghan and Harry were seen holding each others hands tightly in a show of solidarity, while on several more, both The Duke and Duchess were seen to shed a tear for the Queen, who was more than just a sovereign to Harry, but a beloved Grandmother too.

Yet despite the personal moment of mourning for Harry, much public attention has instead been focused on his relationship with his family, in particular his brother Prince William and father King Charles.

In several moving photos taken throughout the ten days of public mourning, Harry and William appeared to have put aside any animosity to stand united in their shared moment of grief, sparking many rumours and speculations about the hope for a formal reconciliation.

Yet while some strides were taken, with conversations and even at times smiles shared, some tensions still remained, with The Sussexes placed on the second row at the Abbey during the state funeral service.

Prince Harry was also prevented from wearing his military uniform or saluting as the Queen's coffin passed the Cenotaph during the procession, as he was no longer a working royal.

However, he did still sit beside his niece Princess Charlotte at a second funeral service held at Windsor, as she filled the space between The Sussexes and Wales' in a memorial service held at St.George’s Chapel.

A smaller private burial later followed, with the Queen formally laid to rest alongside her husband, Prince Phillip, her parents, and her sister.
