The ‘As It Was’ crooner, who has worn Adidas x Gucci Gazelle shoes for nearly every show during his ‘Love on Tour’, swaps his typical footwear for red Vans.
AceShowbiz –Harry Styles is swapping out his typical footwear. The “As It Was” crooner fans are convinced the singer quietly boycotted Adidas before the brand publicly cut ties with Kanye West over the rapper’s anti-Semitic rants.
The former One Direction singer has worn Adidas x Gucci Gazelle shoes for nearly every show during his “Love on Tour”. However, during his show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Monday night, October 24, he switched things up by wearing a pair of red Vans.
After the video of him performing on stage with his red Vans circulated on social media, one fan noticed the swap, writing, “Harry Styles wearing adidas every show of tour until they hesitate to drop Kanye and he instantly breaks out vans….. I see u.” The user tagged Harry and his stylist Harry Lambert.
Another follower thanked the duo for their choice, saying, “We see your decision, and it means so much to me and all your other Jewish fans, and those who stand with us against antisemitism in all its forms.” A separate person decided to follow in the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s footsteps. “Doing it like Harry Styles. Instead of my @adidas I am wearing my @vans . It’s time for a statement after two weeks of silence Adidas. #boycottadidas,” the said person stated.
Harry’s decision to stop supporting the brand came after Adidas announced its partnership with the Yeezy fashion designer was “under review” rather than terminating his contract following a series of anti-Semitic and racist outbursts. However, after dozens of other celebrities called out the athletic wear brand in recent weeks, they finally terminated their contract with Ye on Tuesday, October 25.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the brand said in a statement. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
Ye landed in hot water after vowing to go “death con 3” on Jewish people. Following the disturbing comments, the rapper was banned from Twitter and Instagram, leading him to bash the “Jewish media” for silencing him.
Despite facing backlash for his commentary, Ye doesn’t think he will be canceled for his shocking behavior, which started when he wore a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt during Paris Fashion Week.
“I ain’t losing no money,” he told TMZ last week. “The day I was taken off the Balenciaga site, that was one of the most freeing days.” The ex of Kim Kardashian further said, “We here, baby, we ain’t going nowhere.” During an interview with Piers Morgan, he insisted that he “absolutely” has “no” regret making the comments.
