Hugh Jackman looks sombre on walk with pal Ryan Reynolds after split from wife of 27 years

Hugh Jackman looked downcast as he headed out on a stroll with his close pal and Marvel co-star Ryan Reynolds amid the news that he and wife Deborra-Lee Furness are getting divorced.

The Wolverine icon, 54, who has long had a banter-filled friendship with Deadpool star Ryan, 46, cut a dishevelled figure as he walked down the street with his mate by his side.

Australian star Hugh sported a grown-out salt and pepper beard and his brunette locks combed back as he braved the autumnal weather in New York City.

The actor opted for a crisp white T-shirt, black jogging bottoms complete with deep pockets, and a matching zip-up jacket.

Hugh put his hands in his pockets, and his brow was furrowed as he confided in Ryan in the wake of his personal news, which saw him announce the end of his 27-year marriage.

The Wrexham football club owner kept a low-profile meanwhile, as he donned a waterproof raincoat, grey smart trousers, and a branded Wrexham cap for the outing.

Canadian actor Ryan also showed off his growing beard, and both stars had solemn expressions as they continued their journey.

Hugh was also seen without his wedding ring for the second time.

Hugh and Deborra-Lee, 67, whom the actor affectionately called Deb throughout their marriage, shared a joint statement announcing that they were parting ways on Friday.

The former couple, who share grown-up children Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18, explained that their journey was "shifting" and would be pursuing opportunities separately.

"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage," the statement said, according to PEOPLE magazine.

"Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth," the stars continued. "Our family has been and always will be our highest priority.

"We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.

"We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives," Hugh and Deb added, before signing off and confirming that the statement was the only one either of them "will make".

As Hugh continues to navigate the transition into life as a singleton once more, he also reportedly gave an update on his state of mind in the midst of the separation.

Responding to queries from TMZ journalists, Hugh admitted: "Appreciate your thoughts man, thank you. It's a difficult time."
