I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! star Chris Moyles wasted no time in mocking latest arrival Matt Hancock as he entered camp on Wednesday’s episode.
Matt, 44, finally made his entrance with fellow newbie Seann Walsh, and it was apparent that the celebrities were quite taken aback at seeing the former Health Secretary in the jungle.
Radio DJ Chris, 48, broke the ice, as he said to Matt: "You’ve got to get it out of the way for me. Please just say, ‘next slide please’ and I’m really happy."
This was the phrase the MP famously used during his Covid briefings in his former position as Health Secretary, during the height of the pandemic.
Answering Chris’ request, Matt replied: “Next slide please!” to which Chris jumped up exclaiming: “Yes! See you later…”
Although, a laughing Boy George warned Matt: “You’re really going to get it. You’re really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from…”
Wanting to know more about the MP’s decision to enter the jungle, Scarlette Douglas asked: “Why did you decide to come in?”
To which Matt said: “Why? Because, all politicians are known — and me in particular — for being in a very sort of strict way of being. Which is just not actually how we are.”
Scarlette, 35, said in response: “How would you say you were?” to which Matt replied: “More human than that.”
The A Place In The Sun star added: “I’m looking forward to getting to know you outside of everything else. That’s going to be good. Just be your authentic self.”
She added in the Bush Telegraph: “To be fair, everyone’s human.
“We all have our own personalities outside what we are seen in the media. So listen, Matt Hancock has come on, he obviously has something to prove, so hey, everyone’s got their own reasons as to why they’re here.”
Before making his entrance, Matt endured the Beastly Burrow Bushtucker Trial with Seann, 36, which saw the pair crawl on their hands and feet in a dark tunnel as grisly liquids and insects poured over them.
Matt was heard screaming at points during the task, and the two contestants ended up winning six out of 11 stars, representing meals for camp.
The other celebrities didn’t seem all that impressed by their efforts, as the pair informed them of their win on arrival.
In the Bush Telegraph Matt said: “They weren’t desperately impressed with six stars were they?”
To which Seann laughed: “They were not!”
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! watch the next live episode tomorrow at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
