Im A Celebs petrifying first challenge revealed as platforms suspended from skyscraper

Celebrities on this year’s I’m A Celeb won’t be getting an easy start to this year’s show, as the series’ first challenge has been revealed.

The ITV reality show is returning to its usual filming location of Australia for the first time since 2019, with some of the celebritiesconfirmed for this year’s seriesincludingHollyoaksstar Owen Warner,Coronation Streetactress Sue Cleaver, radio presenter Chris Moyles andLove IslandstarOlivia Attwood .

With the first episode of the 2022 series looming, this year’s celebrities will no doubt be wondering what tasks they will be up against.

Hosts Ant and Dec will be splitting the contestants into two teams for the first trial, who will then have to take on the terrifying Walk The Plank challenge.

Photos of the first challenge from this year’s series show that contestants will be up against a terrifying task on top of a skyscraper, having to walk long runways suspended in the air above the ground way below.


The production team is hard at work constructing the large metal structure on top of a thirty storey building, with images showing that the campmates will be up against a sheer drop as they dangle from harnesses high above the ground below.

The set-up looks similar tochallenges in previous yearswhere campmates have been suspended from high platforms in order to gain stars for their camp – but with the threat of a terrifying drop beneath them.

I’m A Celebrity made a temporary move to Gwrych Castle in Wales for 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, but is returning to its home Down Under for this year’s series.


ITV confirmed on Wednesday (26 October) that fans don’t have long to wait until the first episode of the new series.

Show bosses finally confirmed thestart date and timeof this year’s series on Wednesday (26 October), revealing that the new series will begin on Sunday November 6 at 9pm.

The show’s official Twitter account shared an image of a sign announcing the news with the caption: “Mark your calendars… the countdown is on!”



The series will kick off two weeks earlier than in 2021, and on the opening show, the campmates will all explain why they have signed up.

Ant and Dec are then poised to set a series of challenges for them to make their way into the jungle camp near the town of Murwillumbah in New South Wales.

Last year's I'm A Celebrity was held in Gwrych Castle in North Wales and was won by Emmerdale star Danny Miller.
