After turning 30 in October, it seems Jacqueline Jossa has got a whole new outlook on life.
The actress, who celebrated her birthday with close friends and family at a star-studded party, decided to have a go at rating her own personality – and she admits this motivated her to make one or two improvements.
“I did my own pros and cons list,” Jacqueline revealed. “The ratio was really bad, so I’m working on my cons.
"That’s what everybody should do. Instead of judging other people, going on TikTok and doing weird videos, just do a little pros and cons list and judge yourself instead.
"That’s what I’m doing in my thirties. I need to work on being able to notice more.”
Jac, who was talking to fans in an Instagram live, added, “I think it’s really important [to do a list].
"A lot of people are not self-aware and they have lots of ‘yes’ people around them. It’s very easy to have people who make you feel good around you.
"People say surround yourself with people that make you feel happy, but often we get confused and our egos take over. What makes us happy is hearing good things about ourselves, instead of home truths.”
In 2017, Jac married former TOWIE star Dan Osborne, 31, and the pair have two daughters – Ella, seven, and four-year-old Mia.
In May 2020, she briefly walked out of the marital home following allegations that Dan had cheated on her.
At the time, she said, “I had really been struggling (haven’t we all!?)
lately and, as I said the other day, I’ve just needed some time and breathing space.”
A month later, Dan confessed that he had “made mistakes” in the marriage.
He said, “I’ve done things I shouldn’t have done. Me and Jac have spoken about that and she has forgiven me.
"In the past, I’ve denied things when they’re not true, then when something has been true, I kept my mouth shut. I was a different person. I take full responsibility.”
In a later interview, Jac explained she had sought therapy to help save their relationship. She said, “I felt like there was a lot of pressure on me. I couldn’t be in the same house as Dan. Therapy is a really good thing.”
Now, Jac says she truly believes people can evolve and change after making mistakes.
She said, “Cancel culture doesn’t exist, because you can change, people evolve and change.
"People make mistakes and realise them, or people can be brought up in a certain way and be surrounded by people with a certain opinion and then go, ‘Actually, I don’t think that’s right.’
“People can change and are learning and growing all the time. I believe
it’s really important to do that.
"Self-awareness is a massive thing – I will notice if I’m being a d******d. I interrupt stories for a better story, that is actually me, but I’m glad I’m aware of it, so I need to work on that.”
Last month, Jac made a surprise return to EastEnders to film scenes for Dot Branning’s emotional funeral.
The actress – whose character, Lauren Branning, left Walford in
2018 to start a new life in New Zealand after the death of her sister, Abi – said it was “special” to be back filming with her former colleagues.
She said, “I’ve filmed my scenes in EastEnders and it was very surreal, crazy and fun. It was brilliant to be back and connecting with people. It was special.”
But despite fans’ pleas for a permanent return for Lauren, Jac has confirmed her appearance on the BBC One soap was a one-off.
“I’ve been and gone, there is no longer stint,” she said. “But it was lovely. There were some lovely moments and it was lovely to be back.”
After leaving the soap, Jac went on to star in and be crowned winner of I’m A Celebrity in 2019.
And she admits being on the reality show gave her the opportunity to show viewers a different side to her. As a result, she bagged an extra 1.5 million Instagram followers!
“I don’t think a lot of people knew my personality until I was in the jungle. I was an underdog to win. No one was rooting for me, so there are always underdogs that you don’t know who blow us away.”
