Jamie Redknapp fans divided over Christmas snaps amid cost living crisis

Jamie Redknapp has left fans divided over his family Christmas snaps amid the cost of living crisis.

The millionaire former footballer took to Instagram to share the wholesome pictures of his family, including wife Frida, sons Charley, 18, Beau, 14, (who he shares with ex-wife Louise) and Raphael, one, as well as parents, Harry and Sandra, sat at the table with empty plates in front of them.

However, a closer look at the rest of the snaps reveals that the family's food was catered for them by a chef, from two starred Michelin eatery, Restaurant Story, which is based in London.

The chef had cooked up a storm for the famous family, who could be seen loading their plates with traditional Christmas dinner items such as roast potatoes, sprouts and parsnips from a buffet-style set-up.

In one snap, Jamie even posed with the chef himself, and in another, Jamie and his wife of just over a year, Frida, wore matching North Pole jumpers as they smiled by the food table.

Captioning the post, Jamie wrote: "Happy Christmas and God Jul . Love from our family . Amazing food @rest_story."

Whilst some of his 1.4million followers rushed to wish Jamie and his family a Happy Christmas, such as a comment that read: "Happy holidays to you and the fam!!" others commented on the timing and content of the post given the cost of living crisis.

One said: "Not your best post Jamie, bragging about having a 2 star chef cook for you and the family when there's a cost of living crisis in the country just now and many people couldn't afford to cook for themselves or heat their homes. Lost a huge amount of respect for you after this one."

Another said: “So sad that you can post pictures like that having your own chef to do your Xmas dinners when so many people are struggling to feed their kids & heat their houses."

Others were more positive, with one commenting: "Oooh send him round! Looks incredible and I love that you showed recognition for him.. (It’s ok to have a chef cook their Christmas dinner..that’s what chefs do..)."

Another wrote: "Love the pictures. Merry Christmas, You're very privileged and have great family not all of us can experience that sort of lifestyle."

It looks like Jamie is on the mend, after undergoing a full knee replacement in November, explaining that when he was just 20 years old he had "all of the meniscus removed from the inside of my right knee, hence making it being bone on bone and taking away the cushion that protects it."

He went on to say that he had made the decision to undergo the knee replacement after years of "constant problems" and that his choice was made easier by the fact that he has one year old Raphael, who he called a "speedy rascal" to chase around.
