Jessie J hits back at fans telling her ‘what to feel’ during pregnancy

Jessie J has hit back at fans for telling her "what to feel" during her pregnancy.

The pop star, 34, emotionally announced she was expecting her first child with boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman, following previous struggles to get pregnant and suffering a miscarriage in 2021.

But since her announcement, Jessie has felt compelled to call out some of her female fans' behaviour and comments on videos documenting her pregnancy so far.

Posting on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: "The comments on videos about pregnancy is a whole new experience…

"It's very interesting observing how women are with each other.

"Let me just say this. Pregnancy is the most relatable but UNIQUE journey. We all feel it and experience and deal with it OUR own way.

"Telling someone how they feel or what to feel is just not the way to do it."

She continued: "I'm not even talking about some of you commenting to me I'm also talking about how you comment to and on each other. Every body is different. Literally. And every story and journey is different.

"Pregnancy is not a competition. Pregnancy is not who is doing it better or right because not one way works for everyone.

"I can only speak on the first trimester fully and I believe that however s*** or amazing or joyful it is. Gratitude is always there as a given. But we are allowed to feel. We are allowed to do it however WE want."

She finished the statement: "We got this," with several arm pumping emojis.

Jessie announced she was pregnant on 6th January 2023, confessing she had kept the pregnancy a secret for so long as she "doesn't want to take a second of this for granted ".

With a video compiled of moments since finding out she was pregnant, including a video of her cradling her bump in a recording studio, and photos of a sonogram and pregnancy test, she wrote: "I am so happy and terrified to finally share this…

"Please be gentle with me. Honestly, ya girl just wants to ugly cry in public in a catsuit eating a chocolate covered pickle with no questions asked."

Since the announcement, Jessie hasn't shied away from sharing her "rough" first trimester experience.

"I was warned about that first trimester and it was WOOFY WOOF," she captioned a compilation video of moments from the first three months.

Several clips within the video show Jessie suffering with morning sickness, gagging and throwing up, as well as several emotional moments of her crying.

“I can’t even explain to you, look at the state of me,” she told the camera in another video.

“This is what I love, no matter what journey you are on you allow us to be a part of it. What a beautiful journey you’re on, it’s all going to be worth it J,” one fan wrote beneath.

Another said: “@jessiej ugh the worst… I feel you!! Love you!!!! Whoooo hooo I’m so so so excited!!!”

Sharing a personal story, a third wrote: “I didn’t even get any morning sickness!!!! I’m 19 weeks now! Hope you’re doing okay now!! When are you due girl??? I’m June 1st! Imagine we have our babies on the same day.”
