Joe Swash hits back at childcare remarks as he talks ‘regrets’ with wife Stacey

Joe Swash tests out activities at Haven Kent Coast holiday park

Joe Swash, who recently travelled down to Kent with his family for a staycation at Haven’s new flagship park on the coast, has responded to critics claiming that he should look into getting childcare for his large brood of kids.

The former EastEnders actor, who co-parents six children with his wife and fellow I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner Stacey Solomon, explained why he believed they would “regret” that decision.

Joe, 41, and Stacey, 34, are both busy working parents juggling many projects on the go, but that doesn’t stop them from putting their kids first.

Asked about the challenges of fatherhood, Joe told Express.co.uk: “With every kid, there’s different challenges and different surprises. They offer different things, they’re all individuals.

“Fatherhood… It’s one of the hardest things, being a parent, but one of the most fulfilling jobs as well – and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

He continued: “People always say to us about ‘childcare’… And it’s like: ‘My kids are not going to be this age for very long.’

“So as long as I can take them to school every morning and one of us can be here, you know?

“Me and Stacey would regret it when we’re older that we didn’t do it. We’re very much hands-on and we want to do it ourselves.”

Between them, Joe and Stacey share three children: four-year-old Rex, two-year-old Rose and newborn Belle.

In addition, Joe has a son named Harry, 16, from a previous relationship, while Stacey also has two sons from previous relationships: Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11.

This means the couple share six children between them in total, which can make travelling as a group a real challenge.

With this in mind, Joe went on to praise the newly revamped Haven Kent Coast holiday park, which has recently undergone an £18 million transformation to include lots of exciting activities for kids, including a 6m jump, segways and trampolines.

“I think it’s really important to go somewhere where it caters for the kids – where they’ve got enough entertainment and enough things to do,” he said.

“As long as they’re entertained, then holidays are a lot easier. That’s why I thought Haven Holiday Park was so amazing. There’s so much! I was honestly knocked sideways by how much they’ve got for the kids there.”
