Joel Dommett announced wifes pregnancy to BBC star before telling own mum

Joel Dommett celebrates his wife’s birthday

Joel Dommett and his wife Hannah Cooper are currently expecting their first child together after four years of marriage.

The 38-year-old National Television Awards presenter confirmed the exciting news back in May with sweet snaps of his wife’s blossoming baby bump.

Joel later revealed he was so overjoyed about the new arrival that he let the news slip to his Masked Singer co-star Davina McCall before telling his loved ones.

Appearing on Loose Women in May, Joel recalled: “We found out and I was about to be on Radio 2 with Davina McCall, and we were about to go out that night with Davina.

“Hannah sent me a message saying, ‘I’m pregnant’. I said, ‘Oh my God!’ And then Davina walked in and I was like… Ahhh! She’s like, ‘What’s wrong?’ I’m like, ‘Hannah’s pregnant!’

“So, Davina was the first person that found out. I told Davina before I told my mum.”

Joel and Hannah got married in 2019 in a stunning beach ceremony in Mykonos, Greece.

The pair met three years earlier when Hannah messaged him on social media following his stint on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

Joel said he was “blown away” by Hannah and they went on their first date just days later.

As well as preparing for his new bundle of joy, Joel will host the National Television Awards for another year.

However, as Hannah is heavily pregnant, ITV has arranged for a stand-in presenter to step in if she goes into labour.

He told The Sun: “My wife is very pregnant… But there is a seat for Hannah at the O2 and we’ll just hope she is still there at the end of the evening. We’ll almost certainly take our hospital bag along, just in case.

“There is a contingency. They won’t tell me who the contingency is but the best thing is everybody is there – every presenter is going.”

The National Television Awards will air on Tuesday from 8pm on ITV.
