A prolapsed disc – or slipped disc – is when a soft cushion of tissue between the bones in your spine pushes out which is painful if it presses on nerves.

It can cause lower back pain, numbness or tingling in the shoulders, back, arms, hands, legs or feet, neck pain and problems bending or straigtening your back.

Surgery is not usually needed but a GP may refer someone for surgery if the symptoms don’t improve.

Rinder was inundated with well wishes from his followers, with one writing: ‘Get well soon Rob,’ while another added: ‘Speedy recovery Robert’.

Another added: ‘Hope you’re on the mend Robert.’

It comes after Rinder displayed his ultra-toned physique on Friday as he took to Instagram with a shirtless snap.
