Picking a name for a child is never an easy task, as parents to be soon find out.
And, despite being a royal, Kate Middleton experienced that same struggle when she was pregnant with her first child, Prince George, according to reports.
As it has been claimed the Duchess of Cambridge, 38, and her husband Prince William, 37, had considered on an alternative moniker for their firstborn child.
The royal couple, who have reportedly planned out one last "normal" summer for the kids ahead of their move , reportedly had a list of potential names for their new arrival at the time, depending on if it was a boy or girl.
Kate and William eventually opted for George Alexander Louis, but it’s since been reported that the couple were close to choosing something different for Prince George, who turns nine on 22 July.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair magazine: “Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise.
“Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn.”
Katie continued: “Kate was reported to have affectionately referred to her bump as ‘our little grape’ while she was pregnant, and there was a flurry of betting on possible names.”
A friend of the couple, who recently beamed as their son joined them at Wimbledon, also told the publication: “When I saw William a few weeks before the birth he said they didn't know [the baby's gender] and didn't want to find out.
“He said, 'There are so few surprises in life' — this was one he wanted to keep.
“Kate said she thought it was a boy because the baby kicked so much.”
And it turns out Kate’s prediction was right as the couple later welcomed a baby boy, who they named George, which hails back to the Queen’s father, King George VI.
They chose the name George with the help of their beloved pet pooch Lupo, according to The Times.
The couple scattered pieces of paper with various names on the floor and chose the name he stopped in front of.
