Kates comment to William before tapping his bum in rare PDA at BAFTAs revealed

Kate Middleton and Prince William arrived at this year’s EE BAFTAs in style, where the Princess of Wales sported a beautiful Alexander McQueen gown while WIlliam looked dapper in a velvet tuxedo.

The loved-up pair were all smiles on their rare evening out away from their three kids and, while they’ve been married for over a decade, they still appeared to be in their honeymoon stage on Sunday evening, February 19.

They were glued to one another’s side as they made their way down the red carpet at the star-studded affair, with Kate even being spotted patting her husband’s bottom in an extremely rare public display of affection by the Duchess of Cambridge.

Prior to doing so, Kate and William exchanged words with each other and it’s now been revealed what they said.

Speaking to Mail Online, lip reader Sophia Martell claims that Kate, 41, recreated something she had seen in the crowd.

Looking over her shoulder, she then turned to William, 40, to ask if he’d also seen what happened as she smiled at the future King.

William then leant in and said: “Did he?” as his wife reenacted what she’d seen by tapping him on the bottom.

After this, Kate said: “That was so funny” – according to Sophia.

Also commenting on the pair’s BAFTAs appearance, body language expert Andy Coley told OK! that they royal duo show that they “had affection for one another”.

“It’s clear that Kate and Prince William had a great time at the BAFTAs. They looked like a couple who were showing some fun and intimate public displays of affection,” he said.

“The red carpet walk in particular showed that they really had affection for each other, from walking side by side, Prince William leaning in to share a joke with Catherine and the pat on the bum that William received.”

The body language expert added that William and Kate’s connection came across as being “genuine” and showed the couple as a pair who were close in their relationship.

“This sense of informal connection and cheekiness is not something people do when they are strained or distant in their relationship,” he explained.

“William walks with his left arm out towards Catherine, almost in a bid for her to hold it, a sign of support. He also leans in whilst walking to chat or share a joke more intimately and is genuinely in conversation and not forcing a march down the carpet.”

Royal fans went wild for Kate and William’s sweet red carpet exchanges, branding the couple as “lovely”.

“Oh, my, oh my, oh my yes I did see that. Wow! I couldn’t love those two anymore if I tried. Fantastic,” wrote one person about Kate’s cheeky bottom pat.

“I see it too! How lovely, actually,” said another.

While Kate and William have attended the BAFTAs on several occasions, Sunday night’s ceremony marked the pair’s first since 2019.
