According to a new report, the new King thought it wasn’t ‘appropriate’ to have the Duchess of Sussex joining her husband to see his grandmother before she passed away.
AceShowbiz -King Charles III reportedly told Prince Harry to come alone to Balmoral when Queen Elizabeth II was dying. According to a new report, the new King thought it wasn’t “appropriate” to have the Duchess of Sussex joining her husband to see his grandmother before she passed away.
“Charles told Harry that it wasn’t right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a deeply sad time,” a source told The Sun. The source continued, “It was pointed out to him that Kate [Middleton] was not going and that the numbers really should be limited to the very closest family.”
Additionally, the informant said that King Charless III “made it very, very clear Meghan would not be welcome.”
Prior to this, royal expert Katie Nicholl claimed that an invitation to join the family at the estate was not extended to Meghan. “It’s understood that the family wanted Prince Harry to be there, even though he was unable to get to Balmoral in time to see his grandmother,” Katie told Entertainment Tonight.
“But Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, was not, we understand, invited to join the family,” the royal expert continued. “She has said she will go to Balmoral another time. But I think it is quite significant that Prince Harry traveled to Balmoral on his own without his wife.”
Following an earlier announcement that Queen Elizabeth’s health had taken a decline, Harry and Meghan decided to cancel their scheduled appearance at the WellChild Awards in London. Harry later traveled solo from London to Scotland. Unfortunately, he only arrived in the country shortly after the news of the queen’s death was made public.
While Meghan didn’t get to go to Balmoral, she joined Prince Harry as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton when greeting mourners at Windsor Castle following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, September 8. The four royals spent some time looking at the flowers and other tokens of respect left by the public at the royal residence. They were also seen shaking hands with well-wishers and receiving bouquets of flowers from them.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the 96-year-old monarch died “peacefully” at her Balmoral estate on Thursday afternoon. A message on the official royal family website read, “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
