King Charles will not mark Prince Harry’s birthday today after tradition change

King Charles is unlikely to address Prince Harry’s birthday this year publicly, a royal expert has claimed.

The prince celebrates his 39th birthday this Friday (September 15), with Harry and Meghan Markle celebrating in a German beer bar while in Dusseldorf for the Invictus Games. However, the prince is unlikely to get a public birthday message from the Royal Family due to rules that were brought in after the King ascended to the throne.

Royal expert Christine Ross, of Royally Us explained: "Although we have seen warm happy birthday wishes for Prince Harry in the past, the recent trend on social media is for the Royal Family to only share a birthday post for the main working members of the family.

"This creates a clear, easy boundary for the social media posts and eliminates any uncertainty on who will or won’t be wished a happy birthday." She told Express.co.uk: “I expect calls or texts will be exchanged between Prince Harry and his family on the day, but the Royal Family is clearly trying to keep their relationship and interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex private and behind closed doors for the time being."

Harry has been celebrating his birthday with wife Meghan as the couple spend time in Germany for The Invictus Games.

The couple were seen were seen in a brewery bar drinking lager and eating traditional German dishes, including sausage, Wiener Schnitzel, red cabbage and mashed potato before they left a “big tip” for the staff.

They were all smiles as they posed for a picture at the end of the evening. Meghan, 42, looked cool and casual for the celebrations as she donned some white skinny jeans and a red and white pinstriped shirt. Prince Harry also kept it casual in some denim jeans, a grey shirt and trainers.

The owner of the restaurant Thea Ungermann told MailOnline: “He was a lovely man and was having a very jolly time. Meghan was lovely”. Thea also added that Harry covered the bill, including a big tip for the staff.

Head waiter Frank Wackers also told the publication that Harry enjoyed six small beers and was served Wiener Schnitzel, Pork knuckle and sausage. Prior to Harry’s birthday celebrations, he and Meghan were seen packing on the PDA as they eagerly watched The Invictus Games.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could barely keep their hands off each other as they watched the Ukraine vs Nigeria volleyball match at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Thursday.

The couple, who stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020, were seen embracing and gazing at each other lovingly during the appearance – while also posing for selfies with fans.
