Kirstie Allsopp admits she’d be unhappy if Phil changed her Christmas gift

Phil Spencer returns to work with Kirstie Allsopp

Location. Location, Location star Kirstie Allsopp has admitted that she wouldn’t be happy if her co-star and friend Phil Spencer ever changed the gift he gets her for Christmas every year. “Phil gets me the same present every year. Should he change the present he gives me every year, I’d be horrified — it’s a ham,” she said.

Although the star is spending Christmas in New York this year, she revealed that it won’t go to waste as she will have it at New Year. “My parents always had a Christmas ham and I wasn’t aware of how much I missed that as a part of Christmas until one year, I get this ham from Phil,” she told The Mirror.

“Ham and scrambled eggs, ham sandwiches, bubble and squeak, ham and salad — it’s the most useful thing to have in the house around Christmas time,” she explained saying that you can freeze it and it lasts for quite a while.

Kirstie’s festive family holiday comes after a difficult year for both the Channel 4 presenters. In September, she was forced to skip filming Location, Location, Location after a fall down some stairs in a pub left her “bruised and battered”.

She took to Instagram to update her 319,000 followers on what had happened in a video clip, which showed her lying in bed. She wrote: “News from bed…stupidly I went headfirst down a pub staircase yesterday morning while filming @c4locationsofficial.”

In the clip, Kirstie told her fans: “Today is Wednesday, so it’s a working day and I should be out filming Location, Location, Location.

“Except yesterday, when we were in a pub in Stoke Newington, filming our start-of-day chat with our lovely house hunters Beth and Rory, I went off to the loo.

“And unfortunately I got something wrong and I ended up falling down an entire flight of stairs.

“It was, I think probably without a doubt, the scariest thing and most painful thing I have ever done in my life and I feel immensely blessed to be lying here in bed and not having broken anything.” (sic)

“I’m bruised and battered and I went and had an x-ray and a CT scan,” she added, before thanking the medical staff that had treated her.

Meanwhile, Phil endured a double tragedy in August when both his parents were killed in a car crash.

Their car careered into a river on their farm at Littlebourne, near Canterbury, Kent.

The couple were driving to a pub for lunch when their car suddenly veered off the access road into a shallow tributary river.

The inquest later heard that they had been trapped underwater for twenty minutes before help arrived.
