Adam Thomas talks about joining the Strictly line-up

Krishnan Guru-Murthy told fans he had to somehow “get over being unfit” as he poked fun at his struggles during Strictly Come Dancing rehearsals on Instagram today.

The 53-year-old has a genetic heart condition, like his father, which he unveiled to fans on Twitter in 2021.

He has however vowed that this won’t stop him from giving it his all on the show next month, but today insisted it was hard to keep up.

Giving an insight into his training from yesterday, the journalist shared a mirror selfie of him in a studio.

In view of his 13,000 followers, he wrote: “Friday was so much fun.

“The cast of Strictly are brilliant and lovely. The pro dancers are truly awe inspiring. (sic)

“Now, I just need to get over being unfit, overweight and uncoordinated with a dodgy heart condition and it will be great!

“I think the next few weeks are going to be amazing.”

Krishnan was unveiled as a contestant last week on Claudia Winkleman’s BBC Radio 2 Show.

In their chat, he admitted he was “worried” about his health while competing on the show, due to his condition.

But, remaining positive, he said “you only live once” and that he wanted to be a part of the competition for “for the joy”.

Elsewhere, Strictly hopeful Adam Thomas also spoke out about a health problem he was diagnosed with ahead of the show.

In an Instagram post to celebrate his 35th birthday this week, the actor revealed he has rheumatoid arthritis

He said: “I’ve been in a lot of pain since January.

“It started with my knees and then travelled to my wrists, fingers and now ankles and toes.”

The actor went on to say that “several blood tests” and many trips to the doctors finally determined the problem.

Despite his health woes however, Adam defiantly said he is “up for the challenge” on Strictly.

He added: “The reason I signed up to Strictly is because I just want to be able to move again, get fit and do it, all with a smile on my face!”
