Kym Marsh says she’s ‘never away from hospital these days’ in tearful update

Waterloo Road actress Kym Marsh took to social media today to share an update from the hospital after taking her dad there for yet another scan.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant recently shared the heartbreaking news that doctors had told her that her beloved dad David can no longer receive chemotherapy treatment.

The 47-year-old previously revealed in 2021 that David had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.

Kym took to Instagram this afternoon to share an emotional update with her 607,000 followers, posting a picture of the hospital waiting room.

“Another scan for dad,” the BBC Morning Live presenter wrote.

“Never away from the hospital these days,” she added with a tearful emoj.

Kym has been keeping fans up to date with David’s cancer battle, often sharing details with viewers on Morning Live.

The ex-Coronation street star spoke to her co-host Gethin Jones about her dad’s worsening condition earlier this month.

At the time, Gethin said: “I know you’ve been spending quite a lot of time with your dad recently.

“We know Dave really well on Morning Live and the reason you’ve been spending time with him is because you’ve had some bad news, haven’t you?”

Kym replied: “Yes, Morning Live has been following dad’s cancer diagnosis which was about two-and-a-half years ago I think now and his latest scan results have shown, unfortunately, that there are more cancer deposits further up his spine now.

“They are doing further scans to see if it’s gone into any more of his bones but unfortunately they can’t offer him chemotherapy.

“So they advised us to go and spend lots of time with him and make lots of memories.

“So that’s what we’ve been doing, we went out on Halloween to a lights trail and he’s just been enjoying spending time with his family.”

Gethin then added: “We send him all our love, and hopefully we’ll see him very soon.”
