Laura Whitmore vows to find strength after weight loss while breastfeeding

Laura Whitmore has said she was “shocked” by her weight loss after giving birth to her daughter Stevie in 2021.

The former Love Island host shares her daughter with Scottish comedian Iain Sterling, whom she married in 2020.

Like many people yesterday, 2 January, Laura, 37, headed to the gym to kickstart her New Year’s fitness regime.

Taking to Instagram to share a snap of a Pilates bench, Laura opened up about her weight loss.

“One of my intentions is to work on my strength,” she wrote. “I don’t really care about weight or size, in fact I was shocked by how much weight I lost with breastfeeding and having NO time to snack or sit down.”

Laura went on to insist: “I didn’t want to lose weight, though congratulated on it [shrug emoji] But I didn’t feel strong, I felt tired. Finding a bit of me time again.”

Her candid admission came shortly after Laura told her 1.5 million followers that she’s “set aside some intentions” to achieve over the course of 2023.

Alongside a photo of the blonde beauty in a turtleneck jumper and tartan suit, Laura wrote: “Lovely Jubbly! Bringing some of that Del Boy energy to 2023. Here we go! ‘He who dares wins’ Keep hustling.

“This year I’ve set aside some intentions ( that I INTEND to do, I’ll let you know in December how I got on).

“I don’t like new year resolutions but I love finding my purpose and working towards that. I also want to have fun. We don’t celebrate the simplicity of fun enough!”

Laura recently finished her stint in hit theatre play 2:22 A Ghost Story, which she bagged a role in following her surprise departure as Love Island host.

She announced that she was leaving the show in August, with Maya Jama going on to be announced as her replacement a few months later.

Several months on from the news, Laura shared her reasons for leaving.

She told Psychologies magazine: "There was only so much I can do as a host – I couldn’t support them or not support them. I couldn’t say anything.

"So you kind of have to go quiet, and that was hard for me because I like to be able to have those conversations.

"If I could [have done] things the way I wanted to, I’d probably still be doing it.”
