Lisa Armstrong ‘knows her worth’ after Ant McPartlin break-up – ‘no one can hurt her more’

The last week has been a double whammy of heartache for celebrity make-up artist Lisa Armstrong.

Not only did she see her ex-husband Ant McPartlin celebrate a second wedding anniversary with Anne-Marie Corbett, but Lisa and her long-term partner James Green unexpectedly called time on their relationship after three years together.

Despite the initial pain of finding herself single again, a source close to the star, 46, told us that strong Lisa “knows her worth” and is already looking to the future.

“She is heartbroken because she thinks she and James were a case of having met at the wrong time,” our source claimed. “They really did complement each other in so many ways, but she knows she’ll be OK.

“If the timing of their split hadn’t coincided with Ant and Anne-Marie’s anniversary, it wouldn’t have felt like such a kick in the teeth.

“But ultimately, Lisa no longer fears the dating pool because nothing and no one can hurt her more than Ant did. If she finds romance, she does, if not, she’s comfortable on her own.”

News of Lisa and James’s ‘ separation’ emerged last week after the electrician reportedly moved out of her £3.85 million London home.

A source told the Daily Mail last week they “don’t really know what has gone wrong” between the former couple.

“The two of them were only on a swanky holiday together in the Caribbean or somewhere about eight weeks ago,” they said, adding, “He was with her one day, and he just wasn’t with her the next day. There was no inkling or anything.”

According to our source, James’s recent 40th birthday may have inspired a change of heart that left him reconsidering his priorities and, in turn, may have left girlfriend Lisa feeling “second best”.

“Even though she and James had an amazing time together and shared plenty of incredible memories, she’d felt him changing in recent months,” our source said.

“She wasn’t sure whether him turning 40 was anything to do with it, but she felt him pulling away from her and making other things a priority over their relationship.”

The pair started dating in 2020 when father-of-two James was estranged from his wife Kirsty, and two years after Lisa’s bitter divorce from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! presenter Ant in 2018.

Their unforeseen break-up came as a sad shock to many of her fans, particularly because the couple often shared cosied-up photos on social media.

In June, Lisa posted a snap of a bouquet of flowers bought for her by handyman James. She said, “Thank you my gorgeous boy @james_green83 Love…”, but she took it down following rumours of their split.

Prior to that, she shared a number of gushing posts to mark James’s 40th birthday. She wrote, “Happy birthday my gorgeous boy. Welcome to the naughty forty’s [sic]! Have the best day, love you millions.”

But the mood swiftly changed last week when Lisa shared a cryptic quote on her Instagram Stories, reading, “Sometimes people don’t let you down, you just had them too high.”

Lisa and James are said to have ended things amicably, having agreed to remain friends.

And although Lisa once again finds herself single and ready to mingle, our source claimed she is already optimistic about what’s to come and that she’ll never feel anything as painful as the breakdown of her marriage.

“Lisa was keen to prove following her split with Ant that she wouldn’t be a bitter ex-wife that grieves their relationship, and that she’ll be OK and will find love again,” they claimed.

Lisa and Ant, 47, had been together for more than two decades after meeting on a Smash Hits tour, before shocking fans with their break-up, which is said to have resulted in a multi-million pound payout for Lisa.

Ant – famed for his double act with co-host Declan Donnelly – moved on with his PA and mum-of-two Anne-Marie.

They went public with their relationship in 2018, the same year Lisa and Ant’s divorce became official.

Last week they marked their second wedding anniversary and to celebrate the occasion, Ant shared a picture of a bunch of flowers on his Twitter and said, “Happy 2nd wedding Anniversary Mrs Mcp!! A x.”

After what Lisa went through at the end of her marriage, our source claimed when it comes to new relationships she “wouldn’t settle for less than 100%”.

Stay strong, Lisa!
