Lorraine Kelly, 62, shared her concerns after it was recently announced Prince Harry’s memoir titled Spare would be released in the new year. The Duke of Sussex is set to release his autobiography Spare, which is described as boasting “raw, unflinching honesty” about the royal’s life story.
It has been claimed the title of his book is in reference to Harry’s position in the line of succession, while it has been reported that Penguin Random House has offered £35million for the book, with £17.5m being paid in advance.
During Monday’s Halloween episode of Lorraine, the veteran broadcaster was joined by royal editor Russell Myers, as they discussed the controversy surrounding the title of Harry’s book.
The ITV favourite expressed her surprise amid reports that Harry’s ex-girlfriends declined being involved in the book, but admitted how “sad” she finds the situation.
“It’s just sad, isn’t it?” she said, before adding: “For a mega deal like that, how much did he get?”
“Well he’s got £36m,” Russell claimed, as Lorraine exclaimed: “What?!” in response.
The royal editor alleged that Harry received £20m for a down payment, while it’s understood the duke has penned a deal for three books.
“I mean after the first one, I can’t imagine that there’ll be much to say. But we’ll wait and see,” he added, as an astonished Lorraine went: “Geez!”
Express.co.uk has contacted Prince Harry’s representatives for comment.
Lorriane went on to praise Harry for giving away some of the book proceeds, as she gave him “kudos”, for donating some of the fees, including to a charity in Botswana “that’s close to his heart”.
“It’s brilliant that he’s doing that, but at the same time, for that sort of money, they aren’t going to want some sort of psycho babble,” she said, speculating over the contents of the memoir.
According to reports, the Duke of Sussex will donate money from his much-awaited book that will be published on January 10 to charity, a spokeswoman has announced.
Prince Harry decided to also support British charities with donations from his proceeds from Spare.

A spokesman from Random House revealed: “The Duke of Sussex has donated $1,500,000 to Sentebale, an organisation he founded with Prince Seeiso in their mothers’ legacies, which supports vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by HIV/AIDS.
“Prince Harry will also donate to the non-profit organisation WellChild in the amount of £300,000.
“WellChild, which he has been Royal patron of for fifteen years, makes it possible for children and young people with complex health needs to be cared for at home instead of hospital, wherever possible.”
A spokesman for the publisher said: “SPARE takes readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror.
“As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be.”
In the press release, the publishers identified Prince Harry as “a husband, father, humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate, and environmentalist.”
The book, which was previously scheduled to be released earlier this year has been described as “intimate and heartfelt”.
Senior royals including King Charles and Prince William were reported to be “increasingly uneasy” about the book’s content.
