Louis Theroux shaves his face in Instagram video
Alopecia is a condition that causes hair loss. It can affect many areas of the body including the head, face, arms and legs. Although the condition predominantly impacts hair on the scalp and face.
Some forms of the condition can be caused by a person’s autoimmune system. This includes alopecia areata.
Each case varies and some patients require specialist treatment to ease symptoms. In Louis’s latest Instagram post, he provided an update to his one million followers.
In a bid to combat his patchy spots of hair loss, the documentarian decided to shave his brows off completely. The star jokingly asked his followers if they could spot “what’s different” about his appearance while sharing a photo of his new look.

Louis said: “Can you tell what’s different? I’ve shaved off my eyebrows!”.
Fans leaped to the comments section, including a fellow Alopecia patient.
The Alopecia patient suggested that Louis try out microblading, while celebrities, including Bear Grylls, inundated the star with support.
“I’m also thinking about getting microblading soon. In the meanwhile, I figure no eyebrows is better than patchy eyebrows. Do you agree?”

A fan added: “You’re the man Louis! I’ve had alopecia for a few years and never been able to own it as well as you have.”
Questioning the cosmetic procedure which involves fine needling creating a tattoo on the skin, he said “I’m seriously thinking of getting them tattooed back on”.
However, in the meantime, his solution has been to shave them off.
Alopecia areata is a surprisingly common disease.
According to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation 2% of people across the world will experience alopecia areata at some point.
Other celebrities who deal with the condition include Gail Porter, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Glee actress Lea Michele, Jesy Nelson, and Ricki Lake.
