Louise Redknapp has revealed how emotional she is about her son moving to America to attend university.

Louise is mum to sons Charley, 18 and Beau, 13, with her ex-husband and former Liverpool footballer, Jamie Redknapp. The couple have been co-parenting their kids since their split back in 2017.

The 47 year old has admitted that the tears keep coming as Charley prepares to leave home and embark on his American college adventure.

In an interview with Metro, Louise said: "I keep crying. I cry like 10 times a day at the moment, like if someone’s nice to me I start crying like, 'Sorry it’s just my son’s going to university'.

"Everyone who’s had kids go off to university say, it’s normal. I’m super proud of him but, God, I’m gonna miss him."

The 18-year-old finished his A-Levels at prestigious Epsom College earlier this summer and was accompanied by both his famous parents at his special leaver's dinner.

Alongside a snap from the evening, she captioned the post: "So proud of my boy and my best friend @charley_redknapp. School leavers dinner tonight. Next stop Uni Xxx."

Louise also took to Instagram to post a photo of her eldest son on his 18th birthday with a heartwarming caption: "To my big boy [Charley] I can’t put into words how much I love you, and how proud I am of you.

"I can’t believe this time 18 years ago you came into my world, your my best friend, my rock and have been right by my side since the day you were born you mean the world to me and I’ll be there to for you in this next chapter in life driving you mad being over protective and probably jumping on a plane every weekend to Arizona.

"Enjoy your day and night, I’ll allow you to make a mess in the kitchen today… just this once!

"My super star! Happy 18th Birthday Chaz"

But it wasn't just Louise proudly gushing over Charley, Jamie also took to Instagram with another touching post to his son – also mentioning the exciting new stateside adventure.

He wrote: "My big boy Charley is 18 today ! I’m so proud of you mate and the man you’ve turned into . You are Incredibly charming, funny, clever, kind and a superb athlete. Your next step in the US will be amazing and I can’t wait to watch you every step of the way. I love you so much. Your Dad."
