Love Island winners Millie Court and Liam Reardon decided to break up after "growing apart", a source close to the couple has revealed.

The couple shot to fame on last year's show, beating their co-stars to the £50,000 prize pot – but just a year after finding love, they've announced they have split.

Millie, 25, took to Instagram to reveal the heartbreaking news today, writing: "Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Liam and I wanted to share with you that we have separated.

"It's been a tough decision and I am gutted but it's ultimately what is best for us right now. Thank you to every single one of you for supporting our relationship.

"Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island and the past year and I wish Liam all the best in everything he does.

"We're both ready for new chapters and I'm excited for what's next. Love, Millie."

Liam has also shared a statement confirming the pair's split.

"Hi everyone, to avoid any speculation Millie and I wanted to share with you that we have sadly separated," he began.

"Honestly so gutted. But thank you to everyone single one of you for supporting our relationship. Nothing will ever take away from the amazing experience we shared in Love Island & the past year we've been so lucky to both come into each other's lives.

"We both will continue to be friends and I will remain Millie's biggest supporter in all that she does and I know she will also do amazing."

Liam went on: "We're both ready for new chapters and I'm excited for what's next. Again I just want to thankyou all for supporting us on what's been an incredible journey."

The pair were last pictured cuddling up together on holiday in Portugal two weeks ago, but despite appearing loved up, fans had already began to speculate that something wasn't right – as they'd been seen in public together less and less in recent months.

But now, a source talking to the Daily Mail has said that the pair have been growing apart for some time, and that there was "no drama or wrongdoing".

They said: "It's been really hard for both Millie and Liam to come to this decision but after weeks of growing apart, they have come to the conclusion it's the best thing for them both.

"There has been no drama or wrongdoing and they both still fully support each other and will remain close friends."

Since winning Love Island, the pair have had a demanding schedule which they have had to balance alongside their then-blossoming relationship.

Millie has fashion collections with ASOS, while Liam has his own business endeavours and is planning to start a property buying business.

Back in March, to shut down rumours they were breaking up, Millie shared a smouldering snap of a shirtless Liam alongside a series of emojis swooning over then-beau.

Replying to the post itself, she penned: "Someone save me I just fainted x".

However, Millie later went on holiday without Liam, further fuelling the reports that they'd broken up.

Millie posted a snap of herself and fellow Islander Lucinda Strafford posing in Ibiza in bikinis on her Instagram story in May, causing fans to be concerned about her relationship.

The couple had been doing plenty of things separately in recent months, with Liam absent from Millie's fashion launch and Millie spending more time in America on modelling shoots.

As Millie soaked up the sun in Ibiza, Liam posted images of himself with a pal in North Wales.
