With theLove Island final just days away, the eliminated contestants from this year’s show are starting to see how the relationships forged inside the villa will work on the outside.

As a result, a number of former Islanders have since announced that they have called time on their relationships, withCatherine Abaje andElom Ahlijah-Wilson being among those to call it quits.

But despite leaving the show coupled up with Elom, reports now suggest that Catherine is keen to rekindle her romance with fellow IslanderScott van-der-Sluis -who she left single when she recoupled during the show’s Casa Amor twist.

Speaking toThe Sun, a friend of Catherine, 23, claimed that she “made a big mistake” in ending their budding romance and is keen to go on a date with Scott to see if they can pick things up from where they left off.

“She realises she made a big mistake cutting things off too soon, but she'd love another chance to explore if there is something genuinely there in the outside world,” they said.

However, despite her desires, the friend also alleged that Catherine is yet to reach out to Scott and is waiting until he appears on Love Island’s spin-off show Aftersun to see if he says anything about their time together.

“She is waiting to see what he is going to say to Maya Jama on Aftersun on Sunday night first,” they continued.

“She isn't sure how he really feels and she is worried he may completely shut down any chance of seeing her again on live TV, so she is protecting herself by taking a wait-and-see approach.”

OK! has contacted ITV for comment.

Meanwhile, following his exit from the show, 22 year old Scottsaid that there was “no going back” regarding the Casa Amor situation with Catherine.

While discussing his time on the show, he expressed his regret at how he communicated with Catherine pre-Casa Amor and said: “I didn’t think I told Catherine enough before Casa Amor about how I was feeling.”

He continued: “It wasn’t as if I went into Casa Amor and no-one liked me – I spoke to Gabby a bit but chose to stay loyal to Catherine. She didn’t do the same thing but hopefully it works out for her. Once the situation is put to bed for me, it’s done and there is no going back.”

The reports of a potential reunion come after fellow Love Island starsLeah Taylor and Montel McKenzie announced that their short-lived romance had run its course.

In an exclusive interview with OK!,Leah said that she and Motel had come to the realisation that their relationship wasn’t one to go the distance.

“We had always said the next step for us was seeing how things work in the real world, and coming out we went on one date but it's just one of those, it hasn't worked out,” she said.

Asking if anything changed between them after leaving the Love Island villa, Leah shared: "I don't think there was a standout point really, it was more just realising that I don't see this as a long-term thing between us both.
