It’s been months in the making, but Love Island’s Luca Bish has finally sat down to meet with girlfriend Gemma Owen’s famous dad, football legend Michael Owen.
The 23 year old fishmonger recently swapped Brighton for a sunny getaway to Portugal, where he was able to spend some quality time with Gemma’s extended family, including her impressive dad.
Enjoying a relaxed family dinner together, both Luca and Michael could be seen smiling in snaps taken from the meeting as they chatted away happily.
Pictured in Quinta Do Lago, on the country’s Southern coast, Luca could be seen tucking into a delicious meal alongside Gemma’s family as he made the most of getting to know everyone properly.
The meeting appears to have gone well, as later that evening, a beaming Luca could be seen grinning as he wrapped an arm around Gemma, 19, while she caught up with friends.
Dressed in a pair of white shorts and a relaxed polo shirt, Luca seemed to be in high spirits as he cuddled up to Gemma, who herself embraced a far more fashion forward outfit that consisted of a white swimsuit and sheer lace trousers.
The short summer getaway came hot on the heels of their time on Love Island, which saw the couple narrowly miss out on this year’s win.
Taking to social media to joke about the family break being their “first holiday” together since leaving the villa, Luca even admitted he was wearing Gemma’s swimwear brand OG as he soaked up a little more of that Portuguese heat.
Following the meeting, it also appeared that doting dad Michael had given Luca the firm seal of approval to date his daughter, as the former England player finally followed Luca on Instagram after previously keeping his distance.
The parental seal of approval follows more good news for Gemma, who last week was reportedly offered almost £1million to sign a fashion deal with PrettyLittleThing, reports the Sun.
The brunette bombshell, who herself is a talented dressage rider by trade, is believed to have met with the clothing giant’s boss Umar Kamani last week, just days after she and Luca came second in this year’s edition of Love Island.
They aren’t the only fashion brand said to be courting the star either, as Gemma was hotly tipped to have signed a deal with brand Boohoo last week for an estimated six figure sum.
Last month, MailOnline reported that the star’s management team had been “bombarded” with multiple brands sharing keen interest in working with the horse rider, and her own swimwear orders had “skyrocketed”.
“Win or lose, Gemma will make a fortune from Love Island through her fashion label. Since going on the programme orders have skyrocketed,” an insider said.
“And there's also been increasing interest from high street chains and online retailers who would like to discuss working with Gemma. She could make hundreds of thousands.”
