Bertie Garratt has opened up on his life after appearing on The Cabins, explaining that he turned down the chance to go on Love Island after a stark warning from Jake Cornish.

Last year, the 23 year old told OK! he was planning to head into the Majorcan villa this year, and shortly after this exclusive chat, ITV producers approached him to seal the deal.

But it appears that after a chat with former contestant Jake, Bertie decided against the idea. Jake, 25, was coupled up with Liberty Poole, 22, during his time on the programme, but the pair decided to leave the villa after their failed romance.

Speaking at the launch event of his own clothing label WHSKY with business partner Michael Beckford, Bertie exclusively told OK! magazine Jake told him that the show was "scripted reality".

"They contacted me," he said, explaining that ITV got in touch following our story about him last year. "I got the email come through and then they were calling me, but I didn't go through with it because Jake [Cornish] put me off.

"He was just like, 'A lot of it is scripted reality, they push you into things…'"

Bertie continued: "You'd be sat there and they'd be like, 'Can you say this? Can you talk about this?' he felt a lot of pressure by it."

It all worked out for the best for Bertie though as he soon found love outside of the villa, who he met through mutual friends. "Neither of us were really looking for anything at the time, but it just sort of happened," his girlfriend, from Somerset, explained.

"I live such a private life but I think that's why we work so well," she added.

With his love life thriving and his reality TV fame firmly in place, Bertie decided to take things to the next level with his own clothing label, WHSKY.

"It's all blowing up and with the help of celebrities, it's all getting there," Bertie told OK! "The last six months have been crazy, everything has changed."

He continued: "Everything has changed. The brand is out now, in talks with Selfridges and everything is moving forward."
