Jay Younger has addressed rumours his pals Jacques O'Neill and Antigoni Buxton are romantically involved following their time on the hit ITV dating show Love Island.
Fans of the programme have been begging the pair to get together since they returned to the UK and the couple sparked rumours that they may have actually become an item after being spotted arm-in-arm on a night out in Manchester on Wednesday 28 July.
But bombshell Jay, 28, has rubbished the speculation as he spoke out on Antigoni, 26, and 23 year old Jacques' dynamics in an exclusive chat with OK! magazine at the National Reality TV Awards UK 2022.
"They're just friends," he explained before recalling a night out in which Jacques video called Antigoni. "I was on a night out with Antigoni two weekends ago and Jacques FaceTime'd, but it was more of a friendly chat."
He added: "It wasn't like that… They're just pals."
Antigoni was dumped from the Majorcan villa on 1 July after Danica Taylor chose to couple up with Jay, despite the blonde beauty and Scottish hunk showing an interest in one another.
Meanwhile Jacques was coupled up with Paige Thorne during his time on the show, but left early as he "just wanted to go home" to "get myself right".
Even though the show's producers attempted to convince him to reconsider, he said he feared things could soon "go horribly wrong" if he hadn't chosen to leave.
Jacques even suggested things with Adam Collard could have progressed to becoming "physical" after he heard from ex Gemma Owen that the returning Islander had been "proper sl**ging you off".
"At home, you can remove yourself from situations, but in there you had to deal with every situation, and in that moment I took my microphone off, and walked straight through the front doors because I just wanted to get out of that place," he said in an interview with The Sun.
He continued: "Producers tried coming to me, they were like, 'Jacques, are you ok?', I was saying, 'I don’t want to speak to you or anyone. I want to be left to myself'. It was too much.
"I was saying to them, 'This is more than a TV show to me', it was genuine feelings involved and my headspace wasn’t right to be in a TV show.
