New Love Island bombshell Jamie Allen walked out of his football job to join the ITV2 dating show.

It was revealed earlier today, Wednesday 20 July, that Jamie was one of four newcomers heading into the villa following two current Islander's exits.

Jamie, 23, teased ahead of his debut: “I shoot, I usually score, if I want something, I’ll go and get it.”

In the wake of him being revealed as a new bombshell, Jamie’s football club Halifax Town have released a statement via Twitter.

The club penned: “Jamie Allen has decided to join the cast of [heart emoji] Island 2022, making his intentions clear that the opportunity is very important to him.

“The matter will be reviewed on his return.”

One person expressed their surprise at the news stating that Jamie had “literally just been announced”.

“Jamie Allen from Halifax to Love Island on a short term loan,” quipped another football fan.

Meanwhile, one aggrieved football follower penned: “Jamie Allen, who signed a new contract at Halifax 11 days ago, f**ks off to join the cast of Love Island.”

Alongside Jamie in joining the villa is Brazilian influencer Nathalia Campos, dancer Lacey Edwards, and model Reece Ford.

Dancer Lacey, 25, said upon entering: “I am a sexy, single, show girl ready to turn some heads.”

“I am going to bring the South American spice into the Villa, I can’t wait to get my flirting game on, the girls better watch out,” added 23 year old Nathalia.

Meanwhile, Reece teased: “I definitely think the boys are going to be worried about me, I am tall, dark and handsome, what more does a girl want?”

As well as their shock arrival, two contestants are also dumped tonight in a double voting showdown. Summer Botwe, Dami Hope, Danica Taylor and Billy Brown received the fewest public votes and are all at risk of leaving the Island.

Tuesday night’s episode was left on a cliff-hanger as the Islanders were told that the boys must pick which girl they want to save, while the ladies must choose which boy.

Billy and Danica’s place in the bottom four comes after the pair ended up having an explosive confrontation just before news of the public vote, after Danica was left hurt by Billy leaving her out of the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge and he consequently shut their romance down completely.

They have since split on bad terms and now find themselves in the bottom two in an awkward turn of events.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
