M*A*S*H star Judy Farrell dies after suffering a stroke

Judy Farrell reportedly died in the hospital on Sunday but was surrounded by her loved ones. 

The star was best known for playing Nurse Able on the long-running TV series M*A*S*H.

Her son Michael confirmed she died on Sunday after suffering a stroke which left her unable to speak nine days earlier. 

He told TMZ that Judy was conscious and able to squeeze the hands of her friends and family who came to visit her in the hospital while she was still alive. 

But she was not able to speak due to complications with the stroke. 

Judy starred in the war-time based series for eight episodes 

The actress starred in eight episodes of M*A*S*H with co-star Alan Alda as Captain Benjamin “Hawkeye.” 

She also worked alongside her first husband, Mike Farrell, who played Captain BJ Honeycutt in the sitcom popular in the ’70s and ’80s. 

The TV star made several other guest appearances on other big-name classics on the small screen, including Get Smart and The Partridge Family.

Tributes have poured in on social media as fans offered their condolences. 

Ingrid tweeted: “Sad news MASH actress Judy Farrell has sadly passed away. My thoughts are with her family. RIP Judy.” 

Steve commented: “Sad to hear the passing of Judy Farrell. May she rest in peace. Another of the MASH family gone.” 

Jon penned: “Farewell, Judy Farrell.” 

David added: “Awww, that’s sad to hear. One of the more visible regular band of nurses in M*A*S*H.” 

M*A*S*H was a show about the Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War. 

Judy’s resume also included series such as Quincy ME and while on the big screen, she played a part in films including 1971’s JW Coop, Chapter Two in 1979, and more recently Long-Term Relationship in 2006. 

She was also married to her M*A*S*H co-star Mike Farrell and they had two children together Erin Farrell, 60, and Michael Farrell, 53.
