Soap legend Michelle Collins has married her partner Michael Davidson after 10 years of dating in a low-key and intimate ceremony in London.

The 60 year old was a vision in white as she and Michael, 39, tied the knot at Islington Town Hall, with her exclusively telling OK! that everybody "cried a lot" during the ceremony.

Despite sticking with the traditional colour scheme, Michelle opted to ditch the classic wedding dress and instead wore a top, trousers and a pearl-detailed blazer, gifted by designer Nadine Merabi.

Michelle says: “I’ve known Nadine since I was in Corrie and she said, ‘Can I dress you for your wedding? I’d really love to!’

"I went to Manchester, had a fitting and as soon as I tried on [the white trouser suit] I was like, ‘Yes!’

"She sent me this whole package with the fluffy pyjamas which I wore in the morning.

"I really wanted something for the actual registry which was nice and sophisticated, but not too over the top. I love a white trouser suit anyway.”

Michelle's outfit was completed by a stunning floral crown made from white roses, inspired by her husband.

She told us: “I got the crown from my local florist. Michael said to me, ‘I’ll just ask you one thing, will you wear a crown, because I love them!’”

Not content with just one outfit, Michelle made a quick dress change into another Nadine Merabi number before the newlyweds shared their first dance to Sugar by Maroon 5 – although a day of wearing heels became too much for the bride.

“I had to take my shoes off about 7pm because my feet were killing me,” she laughs. “And then I danced like a typical bride with no shoes on!”

Proud groom Michael looked every inch the part of a dapper husband-to-be, wearing a white jacket with a black shirt and trousers for the nuptials.

Revealing she was unsure she would marry, Michelle told us: "I never even thought he’d ask me and suddenly I’m 60 and getting married – it’s bizarre!

"I can see now why marriage means so much to people, because I think it gives you a feeling of being safe.

"When you have a mum and your mum’s gone and you had that unconditional love, now I have Michael I feel like someone has my back, that’s the most important thing."
