Middleton family remain ‘extremely close unit’ despite Kate’s ‘fame’

Kate Middleton and her family have remained an "extremely close unit" despite shooting to worldwide fame, a royal expert said.

Since Kate tied the knot with Prince William on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey – the Middleton family have remained in the spotlight as relatives of the future Queen and are often spotted supporting the Royal Family.

The family made up of parents, Carole and Michael along with their three children, Kate, Pippa and James Middleton no doubt have pressures when it comes to being in the public eye, but seem to have taken it in their stride.

So much so that royal expert Jennie Bond spoke exclusively to OK! and outlined just how close the family are.

The journalist and TV presenter told us: "The Middleton family has remained an extremely close unit, in spite of the fame and the grandeur of the lives they now live."

Aside from royal fame, Carole started her multi-million pound company Party Pieces in 1987 from her kitchen table with husband Michael quitting his job at British Airways in order to join the company.

Pippa is an author and columnist, while their entrepreneur brother James co-founded the gift company Boomf before launching his latest venture of Ella & Co – a delivery dog food company.

Talking about Kate and Pippa's relationship specifically, Jennie said: "Pippa and Catherine are extremely close; they chat as often as possible and meet whenever they can.

"They talk about everything, and I very much doubt that Catherine expects her sister to stand on ceremony when they are together. In public, of course, Pippa pays due respect to the future Queen, but I suspect they probably both find that sort of protocol quite funny."

She continued: "If you think about the blaze of publicity that fired Pippa into the public eye when she was a bridesmaid at William and Catherine‘s wedding, it’s surprising that her head was not completely turned there and then.

"But she seems to have kept her feet very much on the ground and is, by all accounts, a delightful young woman."

Pippa served as Kate's maid of honour during her wedding to William in 2011 which attracted worldwide attention.

The younger sister has since remained in the public eye while supporting her older sister and future Queen, although tends to keep a lot of her private life out of the spotlight with her husband James Matthews and their three children, Arthur, 4, Grace, 2, and Rose, 1.

Speaking further about the sister bond, Jennie said: "The fact that she has married an extremely wealthy man, James Matthews, means that the relationship between the two sisters has remained quite a balanced one.

"Pippa and James have a riverside mansion in Berkshire, less than an hour’s drive from Windsor (where Catherine lives) and half an hour from their parents in Bucklebury. The Middleton family has remained an extremely close unit, in spite of the fame and the grandeur of the lives they now live."
