New Documentary To Explore John Lennon’s Final Year

Marking the 40th anniversary of John Lennon‘s death, Reda Films is producing a documentary focusing on the last year of the Beatles legend’s life, Deadline reported.

Lennon was killed at the age of 40 by deranged gunman Mark Chapman outside his residence at the Dakota building in New York City on December 8, 1980.

John Lennon: The Final Year will look at Lennon’s return to music in 1980 after a five-year hiatus with Double Fantasy.

Ken Womack, who has written a new book on Lennon, is the film’s co-producer.

The book titled “John Lennon 1980: The Final Days in the Life of Beatle John” is scheduled to be published on October 9. It marks Lennon’s 80th birthday.

U.K. film distribution company Drive is going to market the film globally.

“This groundbreaking film gives exclusive access to people who were part of John Lennon’s life during his final year and sheds light on a part of his life that hasn’t been previously revealed,” said Drive executive Lilla Hurst.
