Olly Murs has shared his hope that he will one day be reunited with his estranged twin brother, after he was forced to skip his wedding whilst pursuing stardom on The X Factor.
There was discord in the family after Olly's brother Ben's wedding fell on the same day that Olly was competing in The X Factor semi-finals, meaning the pop star couldn't attend.
This led to Ben cutting all contact with Olly and their parents Vicky-Lynn and Pete, with Ben even ridding himself of the Murs family name, instead taking his wife's last name of Hart.
Despite all the drama, Olly revealed that he remains hopeful for a reconciliation one day, as he publicly expressed his love for his twin brother.
He told The Sun: "I do believe that we will work it out one day I have to believe that.
"As a family we talk about Ben like he is here. Even though he is not in our lives any more, we never forget him. But there's no anger or hate, we are full of love.
"And the door is always open for him."
Back in 2017, Ben opened up about the rift with his family, after his mother spoke out publicly about the discord. She described how it had left her feeling "seriously ill and on the verge of a breakdown".
Ben claimed to the Daily Mail that his parents loved the glitz and glamour that came with Olly's new lifestyle. He said: "I was very close to my parents, but fame and greed changed everything,"
Referring to his mother's interview, Ben said: "I can’t believe what my mum did by talking about my childhood. I was so upset when I read it.
"Why has my mum, the person who should defend me, said things that are hurtful and untrue?"
Speaking to the Sunday Times Magazine, Vicky-Lynne had said: “It was such a shock it made me ill. I even thought I had MS – I had to use a walking stick because my legs were so weak. I also couldn’t work. I was on the verge of a breakdown.
“I’m much better now but my heart is broken. Ben’s broken my heart, and his dad’s, but I will not hear anything against him, I don’t think he understands what he’s done. I’ll go on loving him and sticking up for him until I die.”
Olly is currently gearing up for his own wedding to model and bodybuilder, Amelia Tank, after he popped the question on a romantic walk in June.
Sharing the moment with the world, Olly posted a snap to Instagram of the pair in a romantic embrace, with the caption: "04.06.2022 Amelia Tank," followed by a diamond ring emoji and a white heart emoji.
