On your way to Brownton Abbey, Lily? Downton star dons £6,200 of designer garb all in same muted tone

Most of us are dreaming of a white Christmas – but for Lily James it’s chocolate.

The Downton Abbey actress stepped out in Central London this week wearing £6,200-worth of designer gear, all in the same muted tone.

Leaving the five-star Corinthia hotel, the 34-year-old paired a £2,555 Max Mara oversized alpaca and wool coat with the luxury brand’s £760 Carezza wide-legged trousers and £350 wool gauze turtleneck. Even her bra, visible underneath her top, appeared to be the same shade of tobacco brown.

But Lily, who styled her dark hair in tousled waves, managed to make the sludge colour look effortlessly stylish.

She accessorised her perfectly-coordinated outfit with a £1,800 Prada Arqué shoulder bag, tortoiseshell sunglasses by Loewe, which sell for £310, and a pair of pointed-toe boots by Paris Texas, currently on sale for £424.

Lily James is said to have rekindled her relationship with Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman after a brief separation

She was a shade different at the Fashion Awards two weeks ago at the Royal Albert Hall, when she turned heads on the red carpet in a midnight halter-neck gown by Miu Miu.

The most colourful thing about Lily is usually her love life. She is said to have rekindled her romance with Queens of the Stone Age bassist Michael Shuman, after briefly separating in February.

She previously spent five years with former Doctor Who actor Matt Smith and was also linked with her married Pursuit Of Love co-star, Dominic West.

Lily is appearing on the West End stage in Lyonesse alongside Kristin Scott Thomas, but the play has received mixed reviews.

Her latest film, The Iron Claw, a family drama about professional wrestling, is released in UK cinemas in February.

Perhaps, like Lily, it’ll be a real knockout.
