Tommy Lee, the ex-husband of Pamela Anderson, made his own attempt at breaking the internet today after posting an entirely nude snap to Instagram.

In the picture, which goes against Instagram's nudity policy, the 59 year old Mötley Crüe drummer can be seen showing off his extensive tattoos that range across his body while his genitalia is fully exposed.

Of his face, only his mouth and chin can be seen in the image, but the rocker's salt and pepper goatee and shaggy black hair are instantly recognisable.

Alongside the snap, which has since been removed by Instagram, Tommy wrote: "Ooooopppsss", and in just three hours it racked up over 35,000 likes and plenty of comments from shocked and confused fans.

Tommy's current wife Brittany Furlan, 35, wrote: "OH MY GOD", beside the offending image.

One fan commented: "Well I didn’t expect this when I opened Instagram", whilst another wrote: "TOM YOU CANT POST THIS ON INSTAGRAM".

Someone else wondered whether it was an accident, writing: "Was this suppose to be uploaded", and another said: "Bro I hope it was supposed to be sent to someone else…"

Other people had more humorous responses, with a double-entendre coming from one fan, who wrote: "How long will this stay up", followed by a laughing crying emoji, whilst someone else cheekily commented: "Does the camera add 5 lbs?"

In another post, an hour after the first, Tommy posted an artistic image of the behind of a naked man (not him) face to face with an elephant which appears to be looking at his manhood.

Over the top of the snap it says: "How do you breathe through that little thing?"

Many people flocked to comment on this snap too, with one person writing: "So we just gon pretend nothing happened huh".

Someone else commented: "….. so we not gonna talk ab the last post?", whilst another person wrote: "Hahaha the legend is at it tonight"

Nudity is not allowed on Instagram, and on its Community Guidelines page, it says: "Post photos and videos that are appropriate for a diverse audience. We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don't allow nudity on Instagram ."

Tommy was famously married to Baywatch pin-up Pamela Anderson, with the pair tying the knot in 1995, just four days after meeting.

The pair, who are infamous for their parts in a leaked sex tape, had two children together Brandon Thomas Lee, now 26, and Dylan Jagger Lee, now 24, in 1996 and 1997, before they divorced in 1998 after three years of marriage.
