Phil Spencer details only blessing after parents killed in car accident

Location, Location, Location presenter Phil Spencer posted a heartfelt tribute to his parents on Instagram after they were killed in a horrific car crash on their family farm.

The TV star explained it was a “blessing” that his beloved mother and father “went together” and won’t have to live without the other.

A devastated Spencer, 53, also wrote it will be a “comfort in the future” that it happened on the cherished farm “they so loved”.

Richard and Anne’s car plunged into a shallow tributary river after toppling off a bridge in Littlebourne, near Canterbury, Kent.

The couple – married for 60 years – were heading out to lunch, something which Spencer revealed was an example of their “extremely good” recent form amid Richard’s dementia and Anne’s Parkinson’s struggles.

Heartbreakingly, Anne mentioned only a week ago that she thought “we will probably go together”, given their worsening conditions.

And the Love It Or List It host typed it was “what God had planned for them – and it was a good plan”.

The post also revealed that it was Spencer’s own brother who cut the seatbelts of his parents using his penknife, but his 89-year-old father and 82-year-old mother sadly never regained consciousness.

Thankfully, the couple’s carer, who was in the car, escaped out of a back window. Despite raising the alarm “quite quickly”, Spencer’s parents could not be saved.

The social media post quickly garnered tens of thousands of likes and was flooded with well wishing comments.

One replied: “Many condolences to you all. What a fabulous tribute from a loving son to a beloved and loving couple. My thoughts and prayers are for you all.”

A second praised Spencer for “such a brave post” while a third described it as “the saddest but most empowering” caption and sent their “deepest condolences but also heart-felt gladness that neither will suffer the others [sic] loss”.
