Phillip Schofield ‘plotting comeback’ on rival TV channel

Former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield is said to be plotting his big TV comeback on a rival channel, following a chat with fellow TV star Vanessa Feltz. Phillip is also in discussions for a tell-all book deal to reveal his side of the story which led to him quitting his job at ITV.

Phillip, 61, resigned from ITV and was dropped by his talent agency YMU in May after admitting to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague on the show.

The former presenter is now reportedly in talks with a senior Talk TV boss about taking up a possible role on the channel in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, Philip and his old pal and former This Morning colleague Vanessa Feltz were pictured out for dinner together.

The Mirror now reports that sources say Talk TV host Vanessa met up with Phillip to “test the waters” and talk up the channel.

The source revealed: “In the last few weeks he has begun to entertain offers and consider what his next steps might be. When he met with Vanessa earlier this month, she suggested a conversation with Piers about Talk TV and he was open to that conversation.

“Phil spent so long alongside Holly on the This Morning sofa that it’s difficult for him to imagine himself on another platform, and he is not expected to sign with anyone else in the immediate future.”

“Especially with the findings of ITV’s external enquiry due to be made public in the coming weeks.”

OK! has contacted Talk TV and representatives for Vanessa Feltz for comment.

A second source revealed that Phillip has been in talks with “several” book publishers about a new memoir, which would go into depth about how his career quickly unravelled.

However, they also revealed that Phillip would not be finalising any deals without the “approval of his family”.

Holly Willoughby, who hosted alongside him from 2009 onwards, has continued to present the show with a series of co-stars including Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson, while MPs have called on ITV bosses to address claims of toxicity and bullying behind the scenes.

Phillips's latest TV talk follows as the former Dancing On Ice frontman was spotted on two separate occasions out in public in the last few weeks.

Phillip was first spotted with Vanessa after they dined at the Little Bird restaurant in Chiswick, and four days later he was spotted sipping a Bloody Mary cocktail and enjoying a burger at The Weir Bar in Brentford with a female companion.

They were the first public sightings of the 61-year-old since his resignation from ITV in May.
