Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are returning to the United Kingdom in early September—news that was confirmed by a spokesperson who said “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September.” And naturally, everyone—by which I mean people who are obsessed with royal drama—want to know if they’re planning to visit the Queen and the rest of the royals amid all the usual tension.
TBD, but there aren’t any plans as of yet. That said, a source at Buckingham Palace confirmed to the Daily Beast that they did receive advance notice on the Sussexes’ visit. The outlet also reports that “the palace seems relaxed about the visit” and that Charles and William are “treating Harry with caution until his memoir, due out later this year, is published.”
Harry and Meghan will begin their trip by attending the 2022 One Young World summit in Manchester on September 5. They’ll then head to Düsseldorf, Germany for an Invictus Games event on September 6, and will be back in the U.K. on September 8 for the 2022 WellChild Awards in London. Doesn’t give a ton of time for socializing, but it’s definitely possible that Meghan and Harry could have a family day on September 7—especially since they’ll be staying at Frogmore Cottage—just a stone’s throw from both the Queen’s home at Windsor Castle and the Cambridges’ new home Adelaide Cottage.
Harry and Meghan were last in England for the Queen’s jubilee, and there were multiple reports that things were somewhat tense with royals. Apparently there are still trust issues, sigh, so more on that here:
