Pregnancy humbled the f*** out of mum who learned to ignore toxic body image

The body changes that come with pregnancy can be a difficult adjustment for many new mums – but one has inspired other parents to be more positive about their figure.

Remi, who posts on TikTok under the username @remiclog, claims that being thin once meant everything to her but after two pregnancies changed her body, she has found a new outlook on life.

In the video, which has gained more than 513,000 likes, the mum said: "Thought I'd give everyone a laugh today and show everyone how much pregnancy can humble you."

She shared a series of photos of herself as a young woman and added: "This is me. Before I had kids and looking back, I was a total pr**k. I was obsessed with the way I looked.

"It was pretty much all I cared about, all I thought about. I was the type of person who thought because I could eat whatever I wanted and stay in shape and trust me, I ate like sh*t.

"I lived at uni and I lived on ready meals, Coca-Cola, and takeaways – but I thought because I could do that, anyone else who couldn't maintain their weight just wasn't working out hard enough. Being thin was the most important thing in the world.

"I worked out all the time because I had the time to work out all the time."

But now, after having two children, she claims pregnancy changed her perspective on everything and she finds her previous attitude "embarrassing".

Speaking about her first pregnancy, she said: "I got pregnant with my first son. Now I was massive. I got loads of stretch marks, loads of loose skin, but it didn't really change the appearance of my face.

"But because of the way I was before, but me three years to accept my new body, refused to buy new clothes. Cause I thought, Well, what's the point if my body's ruined?

"If I ate what I ate pre-pregnancy, I'd gain a stone overnight. I basically had to unlearn all of the toxic body image stuff I'd picked up throughout my life. I did eventually, and I did start feeling really happy in myself again."

A few years later, she got pregnant with her second child which made drastic change to her body and "humbled the f***" out of her.

She gained more weight and her hair started falling out, one-year postpartum.

However, the mum hasn't let that get her down as she added: "Funnily enough, I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life."

Other mums took to the comments to praise her for sharing the message as it has helped them to accept the changes that has happened to their bodies.

One woman wrote: "This!!! I was 7-8st before kids without even trying, ate what I wanted and never exercised. Two kids later I look like I ate my old self."

Another mum said: "I remember thinking “I’ll never let myself go. I’ll work out when baby naps” bahahahha I was so naïve."

A third added: "I really respect this. Self-awareness is key, even in hindsight!"
