Royal Family fans may not have known that Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzie, was only invited to family Christmas before his marriage because Meghan Markle set the precedent.
With Christmas day right around the corner, members of the Royal Family will soon journey to Sandringham to spend the holidays alongside The King and Queen Consort Camilla.
The King's niece, Princess Beatrice, may be in attendance alongside her husband and their one year old daughter, Sienna.
But back in 2019, before Beatrice and Edoardo had married, it wasn’t typical for partners to spend Christmas at Sandringham.
Invited to the exclusive party are reserved for members of The Firm, but Edoardo was permitted to attend and was photographed heading to St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham.
Back in 2017, the royal rule was once again ignored when Prince Harry invited his bride-to-be, Meghan, to Christmas dinner.
However, both Kate Middleton and Mike Tindall had to wait until they were married to Prince William and Zara Tindall, respectively.
This will be the first Christmas the family has spent together since losing their matriarch, Queen Elizabeth, back in September.
It is however believed that Sarah Ferguson will be in attendance alongside ex-husband Prince Andrew and their daughters Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 32, with their own husbands and kids.
Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Andrew is banned from public life but you can't ban him from family Christmas.
“Staff at Sandringham have been tasked with getting Wood Farm ready for the whole York family.
“For 30 years she used to have Christmas dinner on her own. But things are being done differently now.”
It is not known whether Prince Harry nor Meghan will be in attendance.
But with the couple's controversial Netflix docuseries and Prince Harry’s tell-all memoir, Spare, right around the corner, it looks like they could spend the festive period in the States.
It’s also believed that Harry and Meghan will not be in attendance at King Charles’ coronation next year on May 6, with experts warning that the “British people do not want them there.”
Despite what the experts say, Harry and Meghan still have great support in the UK, with famous faces and fans defending them passionately on social media.
Loose Women’s Denise Welch tweeted: “The vile responses to the H & M documentary show that they are much better in the US and did the right thing for them. The nastiness directed towards them is terrifying.”
“The media CANT STAND that they can’t control Meghan and Harry!! I’ve championed them for years and will continue to do so. They are a beautiful couple who have used their separate platforms to help those with mental health issues. Meghan has used her voice since childhood,” she added in another tweet.
