Proud dad Prince Harry gives emotional rare update on son Archie

Prince Harry can be seen giving an emotional speech about his son Prince Archie during scenes from his new Netflix documentary, Heart of Invictus.

The proud dad repeatedly opens up in a series of candid on-camera chats regarding his mental health and his family life, in the hotly-anticipated five episode show.

It follows a group of service members on their road to the Paralympic-style sporting competition that Harry set up in 2014.

Viewers see the 38 year old Duke of Sussex muse about his son and his future, saying: “To be role models, or the role models, that each of you are takes strength and it takes courage.”

He adds: “When I talk to my son Archie about what he wants to be when he grows up, some days it’s an astronaut, other days it’s a pilot – a helicopter pilot obviously. Or Kwazii from Octonauts. If you’re laughing, then you’ve seen that,” he jokes, referring to the popular CBeebies show Octonauts, who act as a sea-based rescue team.

He continues: “But what I remind him is that no matter what you want to be when you grow up, it’s your character that matters most, and nothing would make his mum and me prouder than to see him have the character of what we see before us today.”

Harry goes on to explain that Invictus participants have “overcome immense challenges”, adding: “And together you are healing and teaching the world as you go.”.

Meghan Markle, 42, also makes appearances throughout the Heart of Invictus series, giving her own speech ahead of her husband’s time on stage.

Speaking of Prince Harry, she says that she: “could not love and respect him more” before adding: “He is the founder of the Invictus Games and the father to our two little ones Archie and Lili – please welcome my incredible husband Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex.”

With tears in her eyes, she kisses her husband as he enters the stage.

Prince Harry took an executive producer role in the Heart of Invictus Netflix series, which is just one aspect of Harry and Meghan’s multi million-pound deal with Netflix, including the controversial Harry & Meghan documentary that aired in 2022.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made no secret about their often unstable relationship with the Royal Family, with Harry speaking out about feeling unable to open up upon his return from Afghanistan in 2008.
