Red Hot Chili Peppers recently released a new single, “Tippa My Tongue,” and an accompanying video. The song is the first single from the band’s upcoming album, Return of the Dream Canteen, due out on October 14 on Warner Records.
The funk-rock track sees frontman Anthony Kiedis playing with lyrical double entendre until he declares, “I believe in love, perfectly receiving love.”
“There’s a lot of different things in there. To me it’s got a bunch of hooks in it,” drummer Chad Smith told Billboard. “It’s got P-Funk in it. I hear George (Clinton in it), and some Hendrixy kind of licks. It’s a nice gumbo. I thought that would be a good first cone to come out from that (album). It sounds like us, but new. I think that’s cool.”
Smith adds that “a lot of different things” also describe the rest of Return of the Dream Canteen. The album is culled from the same sessions with producer Rick Rubin that produced Unlimited Love, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April.
