Russell Crowe reveals why he is blacklisted from the King's coronation
Russell Crowe moved fans to tears with a lengthy tribute to Sinead O’Connor following the singer’s tragic death on Wednesday.
In a string of tweets, the 59-year-old recalled bumping into the Sacrifice singer just last year while he was outside of a pub in Dalkey.
The actor was in the area for work and was enjoying a pint with some new friends he had made with “a woman with purpose strode past us”.
Sinead walked past her head bowed and wrapped in a scarf with a big puffy jacket zipped up to the top against the cold.
One of the people Russell had befriended recognised the singer and eagerly lept to his feet and chased her down, embracing her a bit further down the road before turning around to wave the actor over.

The Gladiator star tenderly recalled: “There under streetlights with mist on my breath, I met Sinéad. She looked in my eyes, and uttered with disarming softness; ‘Oh, it’s you Russell’.”
The singer returned to the pub with Russell and his newfound friend where they all sat with their pints as she ordered a hot tea and quickly engrossed the actor in conversation.
He shared: “In a conversation without fences we roamed through the recent Dublin heatwave, local politics, American politics, the ongoing fight for indigenous recognition in many places, but particularly in Australia, her warm memory of New Zealand, faith, music, movies and her brother the writer.
“I had the opportunity to tell her she was a hero of mine. When her second cup was taking on the night air, she rose, embraced us all and strode away into the fog-dimmed streetlights.”
Russell and his friends were all left in awe at Sinead as she left their sights just as quickly as she had entered.

He emotionally ended his tribute writing: “What an amazing woman. Peace be with your courageous heart Sinéad.”
Fans gushed over the actor’s writing skills and praised him for being so vulnerable and open with the tender moment.
One wrote in the comments: “I love this memory you shared. What an incredible human she was. I’m so grateful for her music and talent which shaped my life. May she rest in peace.”
Another admitted Russell had “moved me to tears”, while a third instructed the actor to consider a career change.
They wrote: “Mr Crowe, you should write, you have a poet’s heart- generous, sincere and most importantly proficient in deep dignity for your subject and the infinite frailties of breath.”
