Ruth Langsford has shown support for her friend Vanessa Feltz, following her split from fiancé Ben Ofoedu, as she said her “heart is breaking” for the broadcaster.
Vanessa, 60, announced her split from Ben, 50, after 16 years together earlier this week in a video on Instagram, having taken a brief break from social media prior.
The TV personality said that the “trust is gone” in the relationship, but hasn't confirmed a reason.
While addressing Vanessa’s split on the Loose Women panel, Ruth, 62, said: "I have to say, Vanessa is a friend of mine and my heart is breaking for her.
“It's hard enough when you go through a breakup, but when you have to do it so publicly it's so hard.
“I think she has taken ownership of this though and she's poured her heart out on social media, but it is true, once the trust is gone, you can never get it back."
Vanessa and Ben began dating in 2005, five years after Vanessa divorced from ex Michael Kurer, after cheating reports.
The journalist was left “reluctant” to marry again following her divorce, explaining her delay in her nuptials to Ben, whom she got engaged to a year after dating.
Speaking about her divorce to OK! last year, Vanessa said: “It absolutely derailed me to the most terrific extent.
"I was so shocked and broken-hearted and rocked to my absolute core. It makes you wary of getting married again. The marriage seemed to be so disposable — I didn’t realise there was any trouble with it or problems.
"So it made me feel a bit damaged and reluctant to ever do it again.”
In the video posted discussing her split with fiancé Ben, Vanessa told followers that she felt “incredibly sad”, along with being “disappointed and shocked”.
The presenter however, managed to remain positive, as she added that she is “full of resolve”.
Vanessa spoke further on her optimism after the split, telling The Sun: "Who knew I’d be single at 60? However, ladies, it’s onwards and upwards and I firmly believe that the best is yet to come.
"I hear that Kylie Minogue is single again, so I’m in good company — if she wants to hit the town, hook me up."
Ben is said to have since moved out of their £3.5 million home in St. John’s Wood, North London.
