‘Last year was one of the toughest ever – Strictly takes over your life,’ says Graziano

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Graziano Di Prima has opened up about the gruelling demands the BBC show put on his marriage.

The Italian, who was partnered with Waterloo Road actress Kym Marsh, said 2022 was one of the “hardest years” for him and his wife Giada, who barely saw each other since tying the knot in June due to his relentless Strictly schedule.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, the 28 year old explained: “It was one of the hardest years for us. Shows like Strictly Come Dancing and Dancing With The Stars literally take over our whole lives from the moment you open your eyes until you go to sleep just thinking about the choreography, the concept and the celebrity.”

As a professional dancer on the Italian version of Strictly, Dancing with the Stars, his wife Giada was in the same boat but said she believed the distance had strengthened their marriage further.

She said: “It was really hard, but when we reunited it made us realise even more how lucky we are. When you are together all of the time, sometimes you don’t realise that.”

The couple have just returned from their long-awaited honeymoon in the Maldives. The romantic trip of a lifetime was their first proper holiday together, as they have only ever travelled the world touring as dancers since falling in love nine years ago.

Arriving at their luxury Intercontinental Maldives villa by seaplane, the couple were given the VIP treatment. After being greeted by bongos and Champagne, they were shown to their honeymoon suite with a pool leading straight to the Indian Ocean.

Giada said: “We felt so lucky to be there because after we got married last year we had just four days together before we were back working on the Here Come The Boys tour then Graziano was doing Strictly and I was in Italy doing Dancing With The Stars,” says Giada. “This was our first proper vacation ever and it was perfect.”

Graziano added: “I’ve never been to a place like the Maldives before,” says Graziano.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes – the trees, the beach, the sand. You know when you see things on your phone and there’s a filter? It was incredible. I was screaming like a baby, I was so happy.”

The coupletied the knot in a stunning Sicilian ceremony in Graziano’s hometown last July, exclusively covered by OK!. They swapped traditional vows in church before celebrating at a 14th-century castle overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, where he used to take Giada on dates when they got together back in 2014.
